Have a pair of kids jeans that are just too beat up for anywhere but the trash? Repurpose the pocket of those old jeans into a fun gift card holder.
Use a seam-ripper or small pair of sharp scissors to carefully cut the pocket away from the jeans and leave the decorative stitching intact. Stamp images on pocket using dye ink, heat setting if necessary to make sure ink is completely dry, and add embellishments to pocket as desired. I used a spare chipboard letter as a monogram, along with a crystal centered flower and a stamped “happy birthday” tag punched from patterned paper. Fabric glue works well to attach embellishments to the denim pocket (I use Beacon Fabri-Tac).
Cut a square of patterned paper slightly larger than the pocket for the card base and ink the edges with the same ink pad used for the stamped designs. Use the fabric glue to attach 3 sides of the decorated pocket to the patterned paper. Leave the top of the pocket open to tuck a gift card inside.
I used a butterfly garden feminine theme for my project, but the denim pocket would also be great on a little boy or masculine-themed card. Denim goes with everything!
