It’s time again to start thinking of holiday cards and gift tags. While I generally like to wait until after Thanksgiving to start my holiday preparations, cards and gift tags are another story. Because I need so many and December brings a crazy rush of parties and prep, I like to start these early. Using themed shaped buttons is a fun way to add personality to festive holiday gift tags.
Dark blue cardstock
Snowflake embossing folder and embossing machine
Tree Lights shaped buttons (Buttons Galore & More)
Button Shank Remover
Silver cording
Silver Pen (Pentel Sunburst Metallic)
Liquid Glue (Beacon Fabri-Tac)
I used dark blue cardstock cut to 3×5″ for the base of the tag, and embossed it with snowflakes using a texture plate and my embossing machine. I added some festive silver sparkle with cording looped and glued to the tag to “string” the light-shaped buttons and tied as the tag hanger. I removed the button shanks and glued them along the cording as the main tag accents and wrote my sentiment in silver ink in the bottom corner.
With a little cording, some cardstock and some holiday themed buttons, it’s easy to make a holiday gift tag that goes the extra mile this season. Start now, before the holiday craziness begins!
