Merry Christmas Textured Gift Tag
Welcome to the last Tag Tuesday of 2012! Today (a couple days early so I can enjoy some time with my family) I’m sharing a gift tag with lots of texture. While the tag itself is a straightforward design of layered rectangles, the addition of the texture gives it a rich, elegant feel.
The design for this gift tag began with the woven ribbon, found in a chain craft store on a large spool. I loved the look of the traditional Christmas red and green paired with a soft cream, and the touch of sparkle with the gold thread on the edges, and thought it would make a great focal point on a holiday craft.
I also wanted this tag to be light and bright, so I focused on the cream in the ribbon, letting the colors remain a highlight. A Sizzix embossing folder provided the “woven” texture to the cream cardstock, giving it a subtle reflection of the texture in the ribbon. A soft green cardstock mat provided some definition around the edges.
I stamped a pretty script sentiment (Stampendous) in Moss Green ink (Clearsnap) on the same cream cardstock, and added a bit of shimmery gold Smooch (also Clearsnap) around the edges to coordinate with the focal ribbon and accent the sentiment a bit. A few dimensional adhesive dots popped up the sentiment and a holly-shaped Christmas button embellishment (Buttons Galore & More). With the addition of the woven ribbon tied through a hole in the top, my textured Christmas gift tag is finished!
Thanks for joining me on Tag Tuesdays this year, I’ll start again in January bringing more techniques, tips, and inspiration via tags. If you are celebrating Christmas this week, have a merry one! If you are celebrating a different holiday, or even just enjoying a week full of (mostly) happy people, best wishes to you for a safe and happy week!
I’ll be sharing one last freebie printable on Thursday, so be sure to check back for a New Year’s gift from me!
Until next time…
