Wedding Shadowbox

Making a wedding shadowbox is a great way to display photos and other memorabilia.

I created this shadowbox for my parents’ 35th wedding anniversary.  While I made my own shadowbox from 1/4″ x1 1/2″ wood strips attached to a back piece, using an upcycled or pre-made box is an easy, practical alternative.

I primed the shadowbox using my favorite Spray Gesso from Krylon, then painted using DecoArt Americana acrylic paints and Pearlizing Medium.  Styrofoam brand foam cut to size made it easy to vary the heights of the individual compartments.

After that, decorating the box was as easy as gluing the background papers and photos to the backs of the compartments, and embellishing with a variety of beads, acrylic pieces, letter stickers, and charms.  Keep it simple with a monochromatic neutral color scheme or let your wedding colors shine!

Until next time:
